Women Empowerment by Self Help Group

SHGs are small informal associations created for the purpose of enabling members to reap economic benefits out of mutual help, solidarity, and joint responsibility. The benefits include mobilisation of savings and credit facilities and pursuit of group enterprise activities. The group-based approach not only enables the poor to accumulate capital by way of small savings but also helps them to get access to formal credit facilities.

In the direction of women empowerment, the women Self Half Groups Organisation & strengthened them through capacity-building programs activities were started by Adarsh Org. in the year 2002 with a strength of 384 rural poor women organised into 32 SHGs. The credibility of women with Adarsh and our multidimensional outreach operational work in the rural remote tribal villages as per our estimation.

The annual growth of SHGs by the end of 2012-2013 would be touching an attractive figure of 7460 women organised into 730 self-help groups. The number of members of these groups availed short-term and long-term loans for the purpose of Tailoring Centres, Grocery shops, Readymade garments, and milk vending.

Presently we have 150 SHGs and 4 Area Level Federations under DAY-NULM. We are working in four urban areas (Salumber, Bhinder, Fatahnagar-Sanwad, and Kanor Nagarpalika) of Udaipur district in Rajasthan.

Gram Shree Mela

The annual SHGs Trade fair GRAM SHREE MELA has been organised by 30 Gram Shree Mela by Adarsh Org. in the Udaipur District under SGSY. The SHGs showcased the different types of products & items that are generally used by the communities. Besides these same Indigenous handicrafts, articles were also displayed & sold.

The main motto of organising the fair was to provide the SHGs with exposure and understanding the demand of the customers, besides helping them to display and sell their products. Therefore, organising this type of fair gives ample opportunities to the village artisans and also for SHG women to market their products in more profitable ways besides getting a wider knowledge of the market demands.

The fair was inaugurated by the MLA of this constituency. The program was also attended by BDO- Panchayat Samiti Salumber, Dhariyawad, Mavli, Lasadiya, Jallara, and representatives from various agencies & NGOs.

The chief &   special guest Collector of Udaipur in their speech praised the Adarsh Org. management of the fair. He also congratulated the team of Adarsh Org. for the well-exhibited articles & products for the best arrangement of stalls & exhibited items.

The cultural activities & folk dances are presented by musical groups of Udaipur. Same community awareness activities were also organised to sensitise the community on women’s empowerment issues. In this way, Adarsh has continuously taken the initiative to help the organised women SHGs and provide a stage for marketing their produced articles in Gram Shree Mela.
